Lisa’s greatest adventure — parenting — combined with unique cultural experiences, has led to some of her most exciting discoveries about herself. When she and her husband, along with their infant son had the opportunity to move abroad, a lot changed. But the fresh start (plus adding a new family member) brought the opportunity to figure out what mattered most to them. Whether it’s picking and choosing parenting styles from two different cultures or choosing a new line of work while living abroad, Lisa has learned to find the balance between the foreign and familiar.
As Lisa experienced the different parenting approaches in her new host culture, she really wanted to hear about the experiences of other moms abroad. Thus, “Knocked Up Abroad” came to fruition. And then… “Knocked Up Abroad Again“. These anthologies take readers on an emotional, heartfelt, and humorous journey as an international group of mothers traverse the obstacles, trials, and tribulations of pregnancy, birth, and parenting around the globe. Each mother experiences the cultural differences when raising children in a country that looks, sounds, and expects completely different behaviors than the culture in which she was raised herself.
Lisa’s latest project, “Marie Curie and the Power of Persistence”, is a novel picture book series bringing science heroes to young, curious minds. If you want to join their VIP list and be the first hear about when it launches, click here.

Denise’s tip: Put washi tape and an initial on all 3 sides of your passports for easy retrieval without having to open up every passport. This is especially handy when you need to split the kids up between parents in the immigration lines.
