Hack Yourself a Cappuccino
So coffee is a must for me. A way of life. And when I fly out of our little city I get stoked when I can go get a tasty Starbucks (or better yet Black Canyon Coffee). My fave: iced cappuccino... 'Cause I live in the tropics and hot coffee is only for in-the-morning-sunrise-watching. My gal, Sarah Beth, over at Market to Meal sent me some suggestions on how to make affordable espresso beverages. (I guess she got tired of all my whining on social media about my lack of coffee options). So, to make a very short story long, I took Sarah Beth's advice. I had another friend that was stopping through my city from the capital who brought me my very own Espresso Maker from Ikea. Yay! But Boooo! Though they had the espresso maker, they sadly didn't have the frother-thingy. However, I am a determined woman when it comes to my coffee, so I hacked it! You know living overseas is all about the hack! I am sure if my brother reads this (though I doubt he even knows I blog) he will laugh out loud because he was a real barista in college and swears that Starbucks doesn't even do it right. But this is overseas living...village living. And a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do until she wins the lottery and can afford a expensive machine. So, without any further adieu, My Hacker-Girl-Cappuccino Process:Start with some finely ground espresso beans (I only had dark roast. I have another friend bringing me the real deal next week).Perk you some espresso!Pour some milk in a jar (I used Mason Jars). Warm in the microwave if you want it hot first. Shake, shake, shake until it is nice and frothy. The cold milk froths like crazy. Add a few shots of espresso (over ice if you're going the cold route).Pour your milk.Spoon on your froth.Whoolah! Hot.Or Cold. And, of course, you can add some flavorings. I prefer just plain sugar or simple syrup.
An Incredible Hackable Cappuccino.
